redcurrant 4ply

Tart little berries, redcurrants are great as a jelly accompaniment. I find them too sour to enjoy without mountains of sugar, but luckily we're knitting the colour. It grows wild in hedgerows although doesn't produce as much fruit as it would tamed in a garden. It's a very intense, clear red, leaning towards tomato rather than magenta.

This is a fabulous colour for colour work, it really grabs attention and stands out. I've used it for Summer in Norway by Astrid Troland with honey, turning beech, minted pea, english oak, chestnut and fog.
