This colour palette is inspired by the work of a good friend, Sharyn Wortman, who recently went on an artist's residency to the Arctic circle (this is her photo of her life buoy hat inside Stockholm Sven's trappers hut).
'Everyone always wonders what does an artist do? This artist knitted herself a jumper in your handed cashmere yarn and then spent two weeks working on location every day. I sailed with 30 other scientists and artists inside the Arctic Circle. It seemed appropriate to be wearing sustainable cashmere yarn whilst we witnessed the affects of climate change and discussed how we might raise awareness once we arrived home.'
life buoy: a super bright red.
ultramarine: the deepest blue you could imagine
sea ice: the colour of glacial ice, so pure
midnight sun: a rich blush. It's a great mixer colour, and sets off the other colours beautifully
emerald: ok there's no green in the arctic, but we need green in our lives
snow: undyed cashmere
This is an incredibly luxurious yarn, so soft and warm. At 375m per 100g it's on the thicker side of the 4ply fingering range and I'd recommend a 3mm - 4.5mm needle size.
100% pure grade A cashmere yarn, certified sustainable, traceable and organic.
50g / 187m / 205y or 25g / 95m / 104y
Please note: I dye in small batches. I might need to dye a new batch for your order, in which case I'll be in contact with a timeline. Make sure to order enough for your project.
